Roads and Bridges: Tutors as Guides

Emily Jimenez
Peer Learning Mentor, South Texas College

I wanted to keep the familiar shape of the 4C logo while changing it in a way that tells a meaningful story. The road represents the journey a student might take on their own, one that is longer and filled with twists, turns, and even dead ends, showing that success is still possible but often takes more time, effort, and uncertainty. The bridge represents the support of tutors and offers a shorter, more direct path, held up by hands to symbolize the people who guide and uplift students every day. Through this, I wanted to show how guidance and support can make the path to success feel clearer and more attainable. At the end of both paths is the sun, which represents the final goal and includes words like support, success, progress, and journey are all outcomes that are strengthened through tutoring. I chose a hand-drawn style to give the logo genuine character and a welcoming feel, reflecting the human side of tutoring and the real people who are learning, growing, and making progress over time. I would also like to thank Samuel Blumfelder for digitizing my design and preserving its meaning.
